Good morning from Lafayetteville, New York. You can try to find it on a map but I don’t think it’s there. But we are! In the barn we’ve been renovating. You know those home shows where everything gets done in an hour?
But things are done now. Or pretty much done, though as of Tuesday, the induction range had yet to be used, and while things were getting very cozy, it didn’t feel lived in, despite us being here part-time the past two years. What it needed was people, preferably some small ones who each morning bring in bunches of wildflowers they’ve picked and who, when you give them a bath at night, turn the water muddy.
And we needed food, lots and lots of food, fresh baked banana bread and deviled eggs, avocado sandwiches and big salads. And guests! Who bring Hungarian rose and eat third helpings and play frisbee on the lawn after dinner. So that’s what we did. Here is what we ate:
