That's a nice easy recipe. I do a batch of chicken thighs (ALWAYS skin-on) on a regular basis, so I will add that recipe to the mix. ... Making Sunday breakfast accompanied by Pie Talk is becoming a regular tradition!
My weekends in Chcago used to include cooking and listening to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Whad'Ya Know with Michael Feldman, and This American Life, which often included David Sedaris. (I love his writing! He is hilarious, and he does do a great Billie Holiday impression.) Now, many years later, transplanted & still slightly unmoored in NorCal, I'm happy that I have Make More Pie, The Smoking Diaries, often one nice long episode of Smoke 'em, and all the rest of the fascinating rabbit holes you guys lead me into. (And the songs looping in my head today are the Oscar Meyer song, and Sonic Youth's "Dirty Boots".) P.S. The Harry Potter books are wonderful. There are only few series I've read in their entirety, and that was one of them, after my husband read them all to our two children. (The other two were "The Lord of the Rings," which my husband also read to them, and "A Song of Ice and Fire", which he did NOT read to them.)
I made the hoisin chicken menu, Nancy, and it made my 9 year old extremely happy! My husband and I added a gin martini and it all went together smashingly! Thank you!
Nancy your special recipe / love stories would have made a fantastic coffee table gift book back when we still had such things. I’m picturing a recipe with a beautifully photographed meal on one page and the opposing page is your story of where the recipe is from or who loved it and a picture of that person or place etc.
Can't wait to listen to this, and to Sarah's from yesterday. Meanwhile (my brain always goes to food first), regarding the skin-on chicken thighs: do you recommend bone-in, or boneless?
I seem to always find bone-in at my grocery, and that's what I'd recommend anyway. I made this recipe yesterday and it turned out great! The 3/4 cup Hoisin seemed like a bit more than needed; I'll probably cut it down just a bit next time. I did 25 minutes initial, then basted with the sauce, and another 25 minutes. YMMV.
I got bone-in thighs too. I'm making it tonight. Had to make my own hoisin sauce (bc for some reason that shelf at the store was pretty low on stuff), and it's tasty! I looked up a few recipes for an Asian cucumber salad and then stopped myself and just made Nancy's: it's delicious and so not fussy!
Nancy, I teared up when you’re were talking about cooking for people and welcoming your daughter’s friend Mary into your home, and the satisfaction that cooking gives you.
I have the same feelings about hosting for the people in my life, and I always love when you talk about that.
I didn’t learn how to cook until I had kids, but now it’s one of my favorite things to do. I love the new pie talks, and I hope you keep doing them.😘😘

Some nice wholesome chicken content 😂

I made the chicken- and it was a big success!!
I can tell it's a good meal when there is a lot of silence. Everyone is busy tucking in.
Thank you for the reipe!

Hoisin chicken, cucumber salad, and mango sticky rice for dinner tonight! Thanks Ms. Rommelmann!

It depends on what I find at the market. I'm ecumenical.

I gotta stop reading about food while fasting for Lent!!!
I didn't know you had a connection to GRIMM, I loved that show. So fun.
We loved it! May have to watch again. Still think about the episode when they all fell under a love spell
(What did I miss in this episode? I don't remember GRIMM being mentioned...)
It's a picture in the episode notes - NR
Ah! I admired the photo but didn't read the caption!
