Smokeshow Special: Texas Road Trip

It was spitting rain in New York City, and though it’s a long story, Nancy flew to Texas that night. Our journalistas put a lot of miles on Sarah’s little red Honda over Presidents Day weekend, with adventures to Fort Worth, Dallas, and Galveston, on the Gulf Coast of Texas. From JFK and the Grassy Knoll to beef jerky at Buc-ee’s (best bathrooms off the highway), they traveled the highways and byways, across farmland and coastline (yes, Texas has one). They laughed, they had amazing conversations, they soaked in a hot tub, they had the worst hotel meal ever served (unofficial), and along they way, they learned some things — about history, the Texas skies, and how to hold a styrofoam cup full of Diet Coke like a proper lady.
