“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful,” went a 1980s Pantene shampoo ad, model Kelly LeBrock saying the quiet part loud. Of course we sometimes hate the beautiful, we want what they seem to so effortlessly possess, long to be the person who was given the extra portion of loveliness, rather than the person who hates her nose, her thighs, her frizzy frizzy hair (not that Nancy would know anything about this).
But also, we love the beautiful! We honor it and are mesmerized by it and shape our behaviors around seeking it.
